There is no single right answer to how often a home should be professionally cleaned. There is a right answer for your household, though, and it comes down to how many people live there, whether you have pets, how much you cook, and how much work you want to do yourself in between visits.

Here is how we help customers choose, with numbers, so you can compare the cost against the benefit.

The short version

  • Weekly suits busy households with kids or pets, people who work from home, and anyone who wants the house to stay guest-ready.
  • Every two weeks is the most popular choice and the best balance of cost and results for most families.
  • Every four weeks works for smaller households, people who are away a lot, or anyone using the service to catch up on the heavy jobs while handling light tidying themselves.
  • A few times a year is a deep cleaning before the holidays, after monsoon season, or in spring, with your own routine in between.

Weekly: for homes that work hard

A weekly visit keeps everything in maintenance mode. Bathrooms never get a chance to build soap scum, kitchen counters and floors stay clear, and dust does not settle for long. Because each visit is light, the crew moves fast, and weekly customers get our biggest recurring discount of 20 percent.

A three-bedroom, two-bath house of 1,600 square feet costs about $145 to $185 per weekly visit, compared with $180 to $230 for a single one-time cleaning.

Weekly makes the most sense when you have:

  • Young children or several people at home all day
  • Dogs or cats that shed
  • Someone who works from home, since the house is in use around the clock
  • Regular guests, or a short-term rental that needs to look good all the time

Every two weeks: the sweet spot

Biweekly is where most of our recurring customers land. Two weeks is long enough that you notice the difference after a visit, and short enough that nothing gets out of hand. You get a 15 percent discount, which brings that same 1,600 square foot house to about $155 to $195 per visit.

In between, a few small habits cover the gap: wipe the kitchen counters daily, give the bathroom sink a quick pass, and run a vacuum over the main walkways. The professional visit handles the things that take real time, like showers, floors, dusting and the kitchen deep-wipe.

Every four weeks: a monthly reset

A monthly cleaning is a reset rather than maintenance. It works if you are comfortable with some tidying and want help with the parts that are hard to keep up: tubs and showers, floors and the kitchen. You get a 10 percent discount, about $160 to $205 for that same house.

The tradeoff is that four weeks gives dirt time to build. In Tucson, hard water scale on shower glass and faucets is the clearest example. It builds faster than people expect, and once it has been there a month it takes more scrubbing to remove. If you notice your visits feel like they are always catching up, move to every two weeks.

A few deep cleanings a year

Not everyone wants a standing schedule. Some households do their own weekly cleaning and bring in help for the big jobs. If that is you, plan on a deep cleaning two to four times a year. A deep cleaning covers baseboards, the corners and edges a regular visit skips, and more detail work in the kitchen and bathrooms. See what is included in a deep cleaning for the full list.

Good times to book one in Southern Arizona:

  1. After monsoon season (late September or October). Months of dust storms and humidity leave a film on window tracks, blinds, ceiling fans and baseboards.
  2. Before the holidays. You want the house right before guests arrive.
  3. In spring. Before the heat arrives and you close the windows for the summer is a good time to refresh the whole house.
  4. Before or after major life changes, like a new baby, a new pet, or a long trip.

Things that should push you toward more frequent cleaning

Look at your own home against this list. Each one you tick is a reason to move up a step in frequency.

  • Pets that shed, or that come and go through a dog door and track in desert dust
  • Anyone with allergies or asthma, since dust and dander matter more
  • A swamp cooler or lots of ceiling fans, which move and deposit dust
  • A home on an unpaved road, or near construction, where dust is constant
  • Children, since floors and bathrooms get heavy use
  • Hard water fixtures that scale up quickly
  • A household where nobody has the time or energy for weekly chores

Things that point to less frequent cleaning

  • One or two adults who are out most of the day
  • A smaller home or apartment, where there is simply less to clean
  • A home that is mostly closed up while you travel
  • A comfortable cleaning routine of your own that you want to supplement, not replace

The cost of waiting too long

Skipping visits does not save money. A home that goes unclean for months needs a deep cleaning to reset, and a deep cleaning costs roughly 50 percent more than a standard visit. That same 1,600 square foot house is $270 to $345 for a deep cleaning, against $155 to $195 for a biweekly standard visit. Staying on a regular schedule keeps you in the cheaper tier.

Common questions

Can I change my schedule later?

Yes. You can move a visit or change how often we come. Changes within 48 hours of a cleaning need a quick call.

Is every two weeks enough?

For most households, yes. Every two weeks keeps bathrooms and kitchens from building up, and the days in between are easy to manage with a quick wipe-down.
